System Engineer

Hybrid – Hampton, VA

Role:

WTI is building a team of strong data-focused engineers to lead the USAF effort to implement unclassified, secret and top secret networks. This team will be on the front lines of the USAF’s effort to modernize current data programs with the task of implementing data and system interoperability processes, identifying gaps in the current architecture and providing recommendations for solutioning to address gaps.

Role Responsibilities:

The System Engineer for this effort will be responsible for defining the behavior, structure and view of the system(s) through a conceptual model and link to associated architecture(s).   They will assess the system’s function and ability to support operational and/or strategic mission goals. They will analyze the systems scaling and/or functionality strengths and weaknesses against time-bounded mission/business operational (0-24 months) and strategic (24+ months) desired outcomes.   The System Engineer will analyze the current system’s functionalities/services against new/emerging competing solutions and advise on developing enterprise-level design guidance, standards and policies.  They must be able to translate complex subjects into actionable recommendations for teams and stakeholders and produce reports, graphics, give presentations, perform SME representation in various forums, conduct customer outreach and data architecture related education.   They will work as a team member addressing complex architectures and/or strategy-to-architecture efforts.

 

Position requires the following qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI
  • 5+ years of experience of Data Science experience and a Master’s Degree in a relevant field; or 10+ years of experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Able to travel to Hampton, VA as requested by the customer. At this time this role is hybrid, however, there is the possibility this will be required to be more on-site in the future.
  • Expertise with data architecture modeling (UML, Cameo, etc.)
  • Expertise in SysML
  • Background in Requirement Management and Capability Development

Nice to haves:

  • DODAF, UAF or TOGAF experience
  • DOORS experience
  • Ideally these candidates should hold one or more related certifications – Certified System Architect (CSA); Certified Information Systems Security Professional – Architecture (CISSP), Certified System Engineering Professional (CSEP), etc.
